What Is The Sound Insulation Substance On Floor?
The problem with that stuff is that water can get trapped underneath and it will rust your floor through in no time at all. Best advice is to remove it, give the floor several coats of paint (I'm a great believer in Hammerite) then if you want add some insulating mat before putting the carpets back, but don't glue it down. Then, if you get water in you can take the whole lot out again and let it dry out.

Jill's first Mini!
Well the plastic arches are cracked in a few places as the have been riveted on instead of screwed, she was thinking of putting some chrome arches on instead. Alloys are a possability but i love it just the way it is like u say it looks like it just came out of the show room.
Even has the original floor mats in it too and boot liner. Has recipets and certificates for every piece of work too as well as only about 60,000 miles on clock. I am pretty jelous, think she has a real bargain there.

mini 1000 top speed??
John I did more than 86mph in my Mk1 850 once...but then super dense black smoke came out of the exhaust and I'm suprised it didn't cause on accident on the motorway.
I know the gearing is different in my 850, but on the subject of noise...it really was very loud. I once used my mini for 1 week of commuting....50miles each direction per day. When I finished each journey my hearing was easily noticably worse...and after the whole week I think my hearing suffered for quite a while after!
That 850 had absolutely no sound proofing whatsoever, apart from the rubber mat on the floor.

Total Sill Confusion !!!
Hi Guys - i have a 92 cooper (last of the carbs) which has just failed its mot misarably for various reasons including both outer sills - they have rusted through around bottom lip of the sill and beyond towards the floor pan.
I am totally confused because there are so many different types available - i understand the oversills are considered a bodge and should imagine they dont look too hot either - are 8"or 9" oversills? as i am guessing i want to go wider to cover the area beyond the sill - also i take it mine is a mark 3?
any help and advice would be greatly appreciated
Regards
Mat

flooded mini...
it rains rather frequently where i come from. just last week after a heavy afternoon downpour, i go in the car only to find a puddle(!) of water in the driver cabin floor. it was almost 1cm deep i was surprised i didn't find any tadpoles in it -_-
anyways, i dumped the water and felt the carpeting around the area but everywhere seemed dry, except the part directly below the pedals. the carpeting behind the pedals are dry though.
where could the water have seeped, or should i say, gushed in from???? following that harrowing incident i noticed the carpeting under the mat gets damp whenever the car's been driving in light rain... i should say again here that it's only the driver's side, not anywhere else.
i'm totally bummed out by this, someone pls help, thanks!

97 mpi cooper for sale - 28k miles £3350ono
STOP PRESS!!! Zebedee is for sale!!! Mark can no longer afford to run his VW camper and Zebedee so hes taken the very hard descision to sell Zebedee. His a very low millage (28K or there abouts, but bellow 30k) MPi cooper with only 3 owners from new (A nice couple of licester being the first, Me being number 2 and Mark being number 3,) He is completely un touched and as rover intended! The ball joints were replaced for last years MOT and since then he done about 2-3k only, he is looked after very well and is in very good condition with the only bit of rust being under the head lights as shown in the pics other than that hes very solid and good! last summer he had a coolant flush and change done by my self, and he has had a oil change every 6months and runs on Miller Transam 20/50 oil, He is a very lovinlg cared for mini that is ultra reliable! The colour is Flame red with a dimond white roof, and he polishes up VERY well! the only addition that has been made to him is a new set of number plates with the GB EU logo on them and a high level rear brake light. (in some of the photos he has a 1/2 mesh grill this has been removed and the original cooper one put back on) He has a pioneer CD head unit fitted and has the stock monaco 1/2 leather seats etc, and since new he has been owned by non smokers and the inside is perfect, it even has the original floor mats. There is only MOT untill the 22nd and no tax, but there is no reason why he wouldnt sale through another MOT! he that good! Now for the best bit, Mark needs a quick sale and the price reflects this, £3350 ono! if you want to get in touch with mark email him - m.meredith1[at]btopenworld.com the car is located in Nottingham. Nice little motor - Ideal project!
Ideal project for someone to put TLC into! This is a lovely little Mini('Florence'), only for sale as I began work on her and am now in a job with a company vehicle. As I'm training, moving house and have a horse to cope with, I just don't have the time to do her justice. She just failed her MOT, mostly on minor things(full list on request) but the biggest problem is rust on the subframe, whichis a common problem on these cars, although the guy who did the MOT said it was reparable and not too bad. She's blue in colour with a striking rainbow glitter effect, has two original grey/silver front seats, clear back&front lights, blue side lights, brand new bumpers, grill, moveable bullet style side mirrors, chrome rear view mirror, walnut effect gear stick, new floor mats with'mini' embroidered on the front two, chrome boot hinges, chrome door runners and handles, chrome wipers, cooper alloys and has had a new battery and boot floor recently put in. She runs well, starts first time even in frosty weather, cheap to insure and run but will have to be collected and probably towed as she will need 3 new tyres and will soon have to be declared SORN. Much loved car, I am gutted to let her go and want her looked after in a good home. Get in touch and make me an offer! Ring me or email: 07841486590/draig82@hotmail.com
